Whether it’s through our state-of-the-art plants or our involvement with The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), an independent, global, non-profit organization, we are committed to the best our oceans have to offer.

Maruha Nichiro

In October 2007 two of Japan’s largest seafood companies, Maruha and Nichiro, merged, creating the world's largest seafood groups. Westward Seafoods is proud to be a part of this growing family of companies.

At Westward Seafoods we take food safety seriously. Our in house labs and our HACCP approved state-of-the-art processing plants follow extremely stringent quality control procedures. This ensures our products are the best the ocean has to offer, and exceeds our customers expectations.

History

Westward Seafoods, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Maruha-Nichiro, was established in 1989 and started operations in Dutch Harbor in 1991. In 2001, Western Alaska Fisheries merged with Westward Seafoods, allowing us to expand our operations to Kodiak. With our main production plant in Dutch Harbor, focusing on Alaskan Pollock, and our Kodiak plant - Westward Seafoods has the ability to source more Alaskan fish and shellfish from the Bering Sea to the Gulf of Alaska, in order to better meet the demands of the world-wide growing market for quality sustainable seafood. Today, Westward Seafoods continues to be a leader in Alaska’s seafood industry. The future is bright for Westward Seafoods as natural and healthy seafood nutrition becomes more important to consumers. Sustainability has a good future!
